Required Skills & Experience
- 1–2 years as a Personal Training Manager
- Prior management experience leading 3–10 employees
- Experience managing personal trainers and overseeing PT operations
- Multi-unit leadership experience or experience leading large teams
- Ability to hire, train, and manage performance of PT Managers and staff
- Experience conducting 1:1 meetings, coaching, and guiding leaders
- Comfortable with travel across clubs
- Strong understanding of fitness industry, market trends, and key business drivers
- Ability to diagnose issues, create action plans, and drive results
- Knowledge of labor control, staffing levels, and overtime management
- CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- At least one nationally accredited personal training certification (NASM, ACE, ACSM, NSCA, ISSA, etc.)
- Familiarity with goal tracking, program design, and progress reporting
- Ability to maintain accurate reports and KPIs
- Comfortable with feedback loops and communication processes
- Ability to lift/move 50 lbs and perform physical duties
- High school diploma or GED required
Job Description
The Market Personal Training Manager (MPTM) is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing personal training operations across multiple clubs in the St. Louis market (currently Florissant, Manchester, and St. Peters, with plans to expand). Reporting to the VP of Fitness, this position drives member experience, team performance, and business results in a high-performance, high-care culture.
The MPTM ensures that each club delivers exceptional service, maintains operational excellence, and achieves revenue and retention goals. This role requires strong leadership, business acumen, and the ability to build and develop high-performing teams.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and develop Personal Training Managers (PTMs) and Assistant PTMs across multiple locations.
- Oversee hiring, onboarding, and performance management of PT staff.
- Drive new client acquisition and retention targets for all clubs.
- Conduct regular 1:1 meetings with PTMs and club leaders to review performance and set goals.
- Manage the CrunchOne Kickoff process and ensure PT services are delivered accurately (goal tracking, program design, dotFIT usage).
- Maintain accurate reporting and KPIs for business performance.
- Ensure compliance with certification and CPR requirements for all PT staff.
- Conduct weekly club visits, audits, and provide actionable feedback.
- Respond to member inquiries within 24 hours and uphold a “WOW” service standard.
- Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic initiatives and operational improvements.
